Project name: Creation of Strategy for agriculture development in Tuzla canton for 2009.-2013. period

Project description:

Drafting of Strategy for agriculture development in Tuzla canton for 2009-2013 period, is awarded to consortia formed by Faculty of Economics from Tuzla, Institute for economics and agriculture from Belgrade and Agenore doo Brčko district BiH.  The project was financed by Tuzla canton Government through Ministry of agriculture, forestry and water management of this canton.

During the process of document drafting, team of engaged experts set up the partnership with representatives of relevant institutions and organizations, associations of farmers, cooperatives as well with all other interested citizens form 13 municipalities of Tuzla canton. Process of document creation included organization of interviews with key actors as well as organization of focus group workshops and public discussions aimed at inclusion of wider expert community in defining strategic directions for agriculture development in this region.

Strategy will be the baseline for all future work plans and financing of agricultural activities in Tuzla canton for further five-year period. Special attention will be directed to harmonization of defined goals for agriculture development in Tuzla canton with goals defined in Strategy for development of agriculture in Bh Federation.

Project goal:

Main project goal was creation of Strategy for development of agriculture, food and rural development in Tuzla canton.  Special attention was given to harmonization of development goals for agriculture in this canton with goals and measures in adopted Strategy for development of sector of agriculture in BH Federation.  

Project activities:

-           Analysis of present situation in sector of agriculture

-           Definition of vision, strategic and operative goals

-           Planning of agriculture policy measures

-           Creation of Action plan with projects for stated period of realization

-           Creation of Operative plan for 2009.

Project result:

Produced the document Strategy for development of agriculture, food and rural development in Tuzla canton Strategy which is the baseline for all future work plans and financing of agricultural activities in Tuzla canton for further five-year period.
